Wilmington Rowing Center’s Learn-to-Row programs are a series of two-hour sessions for adults over the age of 18. Designed to give prospective rowers a complete introduction to of the sport of rowing, our courses focus on the basics of sweep rowing. The course is held at the Wilmington Rowing Center which is located in the Shipyard Shops on Wilmington’s Riverfront.
Learn–to-Row starts indoors with safety training, boat handling basics and the teaching of the rowing stoke on rowing machines. Subsequent sessions will be on the water with students joining experienced rowers in 8-person shells. All on-water sessions will be taught by an experienced coach from an on-water launch. By the end of your sessions, you will have mastered the basics of rowing and upon graduation you will be able to join the rowing club as an active member if you choose to do so. Dates and times for 2009 dates are listed below. Cost for each course is $200. Registration is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.
